Botoşani City has, about 100,900 residents. The city is one of the oldest in this region of the country. Today, it is best known as the birthplace of many famous Romanians who have brought their contribution to Romanian, and universal culture, for instance Lettrism avant-garde movement, established in Paris in the mid-1940s by Romanian immigrant Isidore Isou native of this city.
